There were many standouts at the 2011 Oscars awards.  Our pick for Fab CHick of the event is Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer is truly owning her Fabulous, Amazing and Beautiful life.  She is a mom, sister, soon to be wife, Academy Award winner, NAACP award winner, Weight Watchers spokeswoman to just name a few of her many accomplishments.  Not to mention her recent weight loss!

We were especially excited to see Jennifer in a color we love, appropriately named "Go Get 'Em Girl."

Many of us have heard of Lupus and may even know someone who has been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease.  The Lupus Foundation of America estimates that 1.5 million Americans, and at least five million people worldwide, have a form of lupus. Lupus is two to three times more prevalent among women of color -- African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders -- than among Caucasian women.

2011 Grammy Looks
2011 Grammy Awards, Janelle Monae, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson and Amber Reilly
Award season is here and one of the top make-up trends is the nude or natural lip. This look is timeless and always has an impact.  It is equivalent to the Little Black Dress of  lip color.

One of the secrets to getting the nude look that fits you is by using a little concealer on your lips as a base. (Don't cake it on, just a little to even out the lip color)

Not all nude looks are the same for all Fab CHicks, so here are some shades that can give you the look for your skin tone.
For our lighter complexion Fab Chicks, Kim K. skin tone, try our Bare Essentials with your favorite nude lip liner and you have a dynamic duo.

The latest trend in nail shapes is the pointed nail, a-la Ri-Ri.  I am more the rounded square, but the key to any shape is the nail file. Regardless of natural or acrylic, there is file for everyone.  Here is a quick guide to nail files  and the best way to keep your nails in Fab CHick shape!

Metal Nail Files: These are the ones you find in the quick fix manicure sets.  The files can rip nails or create a jagged edge.

Wood Nail Files: Double sided wood boards are straight and to the point but require a frequent replacement.

We all love Dr. Oz. because he breaks medicine down to the basics.  Here Dr. Oz tackles acrylic nails, biting nails, fungus and acetone.  Amazing how acetone dissolves styrofoam! Imagine what it does to your nails!
